From the time I started 9 months ago there have been so many benefits. I weighed a lazy 240/245# in February of 2014, I knew that CrossFit was going to be a challenge for sure. As the months have gone by I cared less and less about the body weight but am proud to have dipped below the 210# mark. My strength and endurance have definitely increased in a big way. The harder I work and focus the better I get. Weird CrossFit works hahaha!

I was once asked what I want in life? I didn’t have an answer for the longest time until this year. At 31 years old I found myself in a dark and dangerous lifestyle. I didn’t have any drive, ambition, cares. I gave myself every reason not to believe I was worth anything. Something had to change. My great friend Joel got me off my ass and we started working out at 24 Hour Fitness. I was taking some steps to change. He mentioned to me in March 2014 that there was a CrossFit gym (CrossFit Elkhorn) that was going to be opening out in our neck of the woods. This would be a huge commitment that I am so proud to have dedicated myself to.

As much physically that CrossFit has improved me, it has mentally changed me as well. I have become all around more caring, supportive, and teammate to others. The most that I can take from my experience so far is that I can move mountains, but first you have to start at the bottom. I have become a competitive athlete for the first time since I was in High School. My body and skill level is always improving and I cannot wait to see where I am in another year.

My support team including the other athletes, friends, family, and coaches have all noticed a difference in me as well. It has been an absolute challenge every step up the way. CrossFit isn’t easy, however, it can be adapted to your skill and goals. The only negative is having to re-size my wardrobe a couple times lol. (Not really a negative)

Thanks Coaches Trevor, Justin, and Joe for believing in each of us and providing us with amazing technique, dedication, and respect. Thanks for listening to my story. Now start writing yours. See you at CFE or a competition soon

Now when asked what do I want in life, I have an answer. I want to inspire others to find their inner strength and courage. I want to be the best athlete, brother, son, friend, peer that I can possibly be. There is not an excuse I hadn’t heard already. When you realize that you are the only thing holding you back, then and only then can you break that wall down.
